Hello! I’m Christin, the author of Cultivated: The Elements of Floral Style and if you don’t know me already, I love to write about plants, travel, art, history, and design. My next illustrated book of essays will be published by Rizzoli in 2025.

Probably many of you are wondering: Substack? Is this the Cultivated newsletter? Not anymore. Let me explain what Substack is and why I’ve chosen this platform.

Substack is part blog and part audio/video. Unlike Instagram where an algorithm controls whether you hear from me or not, I’ll appear in your inbox at least once a month. You can expect big ideas and little inspirations, the same quality of writing you’ve come to expect from me and the same subjects: nature, culture and horticulture.

The Details

Do you have to pay? No. Every month a free edition will go to all subscribers. Next up: The Chelsea Flower Show.

Paying subscribers will also receive The Cultivated Diaries once a month. The Diaries are more personal: I’ll read from my memoir, share more from my trips and books, bring you behind the scenes and deliver more diverse content. The paywall isn’t about just supporting my writing (which I would be grateful for!)—it’s also a way to join a community where we can chat, potentially organize meet-ups, and more deeply engage with ideas.

What does it cost? $5 month or $50/year. You choose.
